Have I used up my lives with HGM?

    Hi everyone,

I've been a longtime lurker, and can't tell you how much useful info and help I've received from this forum. Thanks for that.
Anyhoo, my first post, in newbie style, is a question...

I want to know if HGM will still be effective for me as a full-body routine:
As of next week, I'll be fitting workouts into my schedule again. I've started up HGM 3 times in the past, having made it as far as 3 to 5 months into the program.
It's been about 4 months since I've been lifting any type of weight.

Will my "spurt starts" in the past mean that I won't get optimal results by starting over AGAIN from the Iron Manual phase?
If that's the case, any recommendations on a simple, 3-day full body routine? (I do like HGM - really!)

    Thanks in advance...

It sounds like there is something in the program design that doesn't hold your attention.

You might want to try a shorter program to start to see if that will hold your attention better.

When I was doing HGM it sometimes felt like a drag because it was hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yet when I did shorter programs for the same period of time it was easier to get amped up.

    It's a thought.

Try looking at Beach Muscles by Craig Ballantyne. I am almost done it and really like it. I finished HGM then went on to this.

Lax, thanks for that link in the other thread. I've saved it and plan to do the program myself sometime in the future!

Sinnaul, why not start HGM from where you left off?

Waterbury Method on T-nation. I followed it and it added some thickness to my chest and arms and I also saw some shoulder improvement.

    Thanks, guys.

After checking out the programs you suggested, and some of the other links here, I've decided to go with Chad's TBT. I'm only a week into it now, so I'll let you know how it goes in a while...
