Question for Dos: RE Lifting platforms

    Dos:

I've checked out your school's strength and conditioning site numerous times also remember you saying here in a post that you built all the platforms in the gym. The platforms look simple enough, and I have a basic idea of what I plan to do, but I was wondering the dimensions of each section. Basically how wide is each rubber part and the width of the central platform area. Thanks

    Kev,

most platforms are 8'x8', with 2' wide rubber mats on each side. Check out the link below on how to build one.

Question for Dos: RE Lifting platforms

One question, it is possible to make one that is sectional? 8'x8' is hard to get through a door when moving time comes.

My suggestion, although I wouldn't know if this would work, would be to build it in 2 pieces (4x8) and have them latch together on the edges somehow.

Question for Dos: RE Lifting platforms

Do you guys think rubber covered plates will be good enough if you have a decent platform?

Question for Dos: RE Lifting platforms

Are they intended for dropping like in an Olympic event? Someone mentioned specifically getting bumper plates, so I think the usual rubber or poly coated plates are really intended to minimize the clang of them slapping together.
