    Trying to give a damn!

LOL, I'm questioning my sanity already.. funny, they were no-brainers to me at the time!
Need to cover a lot of distance and have a time limit... hey cut out the time off the bike by not buying or carrying too much food.
Need to finish a project or something.. ? Hey, just skp those meals.

Trouble was, I never tracked and was always cold. Now I do track and am curious how much I'd be (over)eating the next few days. Also to what BBT would do as a result. My biggest complaint about not eating within 3-4 hrs after the last meal (excluding sleep) has always been feeling cold. NOT feeling hungry. That even tends to come after a meal has been eaten.

Won't start now, but after Aunt Flo has arrived again, since beyond ovulation is always my mtn-bulking phase. Today is Wednesday which will become fasting day, unless workouts get changed.. I've had to move no less than 4 workouts to accommodate for Easter:
    Thurs instead of Fri,
Sat instead of Sunday (Easter = closed gym),
Monday am instead of Tues (Oly gym is open),
Wed instead of Tues pm (since regular gym is closed on Tues)
It's interesting to see how the owner of my new gym has decided to stay open during the holidays. It's always been a big source of frustration for me that gyms close down just when you need them most = preventing yourself to eat too much on the holidays or at least to undo the damage of overeating.

    Trying to give a damn!

Went to the trigger point & massage therapist today and she discovered my problem with tingling & reduced blood flow isn't so much caused by scalenes pressing on the thoracic outlet, but by the supraspinatus.
When she treated that area I kinda yelped with pain, that area hurts far more than all the neck muscles do. The interesting part was that blood flow to the hand increased almost immediately. Bingo!
Right now I'm still not hungry as I'd eaten plenty yesterday and since I'd decided to procrastinate breakfast for a bit and just get my coffee + chocolate fix first thing (ran out of dates , so no dates today) and went to the therapist later on.... so, why not start a semi-fast today already? Semi-fast since I will be having my usual supps (fish oil, vitamins) as well as the coffee+chocolate fix plus grapefruit juice (goes along with the fat burner Svelta STAC which doesn't contain grapefruit extract yet). In addition also BCAA tabs that I normally only take during workouts as a replacement for whey.
I'm not too strict on it, so if I break down half way the day or night and still eat, that's OK since I wasn't going to start it yet... it just so happened.
I'm deadly curious though what will happen with body temperature. Have never really tracked day-time temp (sometimes at night), so it will be interesting to compare today with other days.

    Trying to give a damn!

LOL, scratch that 24hr fasting .. not that I'm eating already, it's just that I won't be able to stay at a very low-calorie day since I forgot that I'll be lifting again tomorrow (instead of Friday) and always do a refeed the night before.
Today's calories will just appear to be low, since I'm 'cheating' by adding the refeed carbs/calories to the next (workout) day. So, in reality my WO day calories appear far higher than they really are and the rest day calories (if they precede a WO-day) far lower than they really are.
This is just the eating pattern that works best for ME: carbs make me strong but ONLY when they are already in the body as else they make me weak as shit, as if I was Samson whose hair got cut off. I'm OKish if I just eating/drinking them during a workout.. that would be another option to stay true to my plans to do a 24hr fast.. hmm might just do that this time.
LMAO, in that case I'll take über-sweet Easter candy with me to the gym.. yep, it's a deal.

Health: got a great shoulder massage which helped tremendously with blood flow to hands.
Semi-fast went like this : only had coffee w chocolate & grapefruit juice plus about 10 BCAA tabs
Biggest problem: huge even painful bloat from chewing gum & oversecreting stomach acid.
Cold hands that always bothered me so much, did come but also go away some 2 hrs later. Went to bed with cold feet , so kept socks on.
Slept OK (took tryptophan) but then.. just woke up 4hrs later and upon sleeping a bit more couldn’t sleep anymore after 6am. Now I know exactly why I was such a crappy sleeper for the longest time.
High BBT in the morning was a real surprise but I suppose once you’ve actually ovulated there’s no way to stop the temp surge. Or maybe it’s also short-term adaptation? Cranking up the heat to stay warm?
Lost a lot of fluids too & hit VT that way on an unexpeced cycle day, but expect wt to be up by at least 1kg tomorrow morning.

Only pec deck. Left wrist hurt when starting on the renegade row and workout had lasted too long already.
Comment: elated about the PRs with pull-ups.. that’s where getting lighter is good for. I made a mistake by eating (devouring actually) too much candy at the start of the workout.. either blood sugar went up by too much or just the thermic effect was too large as I broke out in a severe sweat & had palpitations. HR went up really badly for many lifts, especially with the squat lunges.. maybe that’s a common thing, yet it was worse than I’ve experienced in a long time.
Reason for eating so much at the start was that I didn’t want to eat too much prior to lifting but also wanted the sugars IN my system fast enough so that I wouldn’t overeat after the workout (a very common occasion in the past).
PS: this approach was successful as I sticked to the planned calorie intake, which was quite liberal to begin with …

Instead of aiming for lots of reps, I wanted to see if this grows hair on the chest (according to Lyle it does).. phew!

Comments: good workout, was happy with the abbreviated set-up (no db presses). Wrist hurt a bit (made a wrong move last time for the push presses) . While it sucks that my gym doesn’t have an Oly platform nor a squat rack (using the fixed wt bb rack for it), it was nice to watch the EC of Oly lifting. Thursday it had been the light weight women & men, today it was time for the heavy weights: this morning just the women that did snatches and clean & jerks.

    Trying to give a damn!

Ideally, you should try to do as many pullups when gaining weight.

I'm so bummed.. something went wrong today. Didn't feel anything upon going home (walking w backpack) but after a few hrs I suddenly couldn't extend my left arm w/o sharp pain and I'm still unable to do this. Lifting up even a tiny weight with the left arm extended is a bitch, heck even just lifting it w/o wt is.
Not sure how long this is going to derail me, but frankly I'd be even scared of driving with this arm.

It could have been the forceful push presses, the 1-arm LPDs or the final db swings. In any case it royally sux. Can't I get a break from injuries? Left wrist was hurting already (ulnar/radial flexion mostly) and prevented me on Thursday to do renegade rows, but that seems to have improved. What now?

In 1 week I've eaten both less & more in 24hrs than in the 5 yrs of tracking . I'd forgotten how much I really love eating a ton of food.. it's sad when you can't get full on junkfood. Good thing that the right choices (low carb , high volume, high protein foods) does fill me up OK.

Elbow was still very painful to bend in the morning, but a few hrs later, this went away and now only extreme extension hurts a bit.
Am going to the gym tomorrow and see what happens.. maybe the injury is gone as soon as it arrived (wishful thinking, I know..) or else I'll drag mrEspi onto the platform. He keeps saying he wants to learn Oly lifting too and I know he's gifted enough for it (just having flexibility problems with shoulders/elbows)

At least I wasn't the only one, except that I did this on Fri night (instead of a real refeed) plus Saturday night. Yesterday was a really normal lowish day.

Did a training today expecting the worst, considering the problems I had with the left elbow & not being able to extend it w/o pain for over 24hrs ..
Was surprised to even do triples @ 30kg for power snatch. But after the wide (snatch-grip) pulls, elbow acted up for a bit again, so didn't do more than back squats with an empty bar.
It was very busy in the gym, which was another challenge altogether..way harder to focus. mrEspi had come with me but did a training of his own, while getting some extra instructions from my trainer. Looks like he needs to do more deadlifts to build up lower back strength.

Thanks for the compliment. Still a way to go before hitting my previous best = a triple when BW was 14kg higher than it is now.
