Ever hear of the Yes I'm a Girl and yes I have Muscle page on Facebook? They periodically post pics of/from female athletes.

Hi Tom - I did stick to my plan. I ran an easy 4 miles, but I guess I wasn't healed up enough because I was in pain again afterwards. I've called my favorite running doctor, and have an appointment with him....but he couldn't see me until August 16th! So, in the meantime, I've starting icing it (which seems to be helping TREMENDOUSLY!) and today I got out for a nice long 16 mile bike ride....and have felt no tweaks or anything from it! So....if I can't run, at least I can bike!

I also went to the gym yesterday and lifted (upper body) so I'll continue to do that 3x a week for now....until I get to my appointment.

    That is disappointing Tracey.

I know you will do the prudent and cautious thing to get back to what you love most. Ice and rest are both. Until then, happy biking!

sorry to hear about your injury still nagging at you. i'm glad you're being smart about it though. and maybe a bit of crosstraining will do you some good, both physically and mentally? it always does for me...

I'm just hoping all the downtime from running doesn't impact my goal of a PR at the half marathon.....that's only about a month away, and since I can't even get in to see the doc until Aug 16th, I'm thinking that I may have to put the PR plans on hold and just run the half (IF I'm even able to!) and not worry about finish times.

In the meantime, this afternoon I'll be back out on the bike! I WAS planning on swimming as well, but wouldn't you know it.....my Y is actually closing the pool for a month for renovations.....and of course that starts in 2 days!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Oh well.......guess I'm just meant to get some time on the bike!

Sorry to read about your lingering injury ... but on the upside you can cycle and cycling is a great crosstraining tool. Hopefully the doc can shed some light on your injury and help with a speedy recovery.

I certainly hope you can run the half! You work so hard at training for your runs, I'd hate for you to have to miss it.

Sigh... thank goodness crosstraining exists, but still - sorry about the ouches.

    thanks Bytsi!

Hey look....I'm actually going to post a workout (I have been doing them, just haven't posted details!)

    Tuesday July 31
    Bench Press
    5 x 75
    5 x 75
    5 x 75
    5 x 75
    5 x 75

    PushUps with DB Row
    5ea x 10
    5ea x 10
    5ea x 10
    4ea x 10
    2ea x 10

    OH Press
    5 x 50
    5 x 50
    4 x 50
    5 x 50
    4 x 50

    Assisted Dips
    5 x 50
    5 x 50
    5 x 50
    5 x 50
    5 x 50

    Hanging Knee Raise
    10
    5 w/10 lb db, 5 w/no weight
    5 w/10 lb db, 5 w/no weight

I normally do the OH press first, but the one rack that I use to do them was occupied so I started with bench, then moved on to the pushups, and by the time I got them done, I had to drop the weight on the OH press. I had a serious case of jelly arms at the end of this workout! :tongue
