    Perfect game

Just to kill time, I watched the final 45 minutes of For Love of the Game last night. Even though I've never seen it all the way through -- just snippets here and there on cable -- I started joking about all the painfully obvious and earnest symbolism.

I sucked Kimberly in, and we both cracked up at John C. Reilly's performance, which was exactly like his performances in Walk Hard and Talladega Nights, only he was (allegedly) playing it straight.

After we got finished making fun of it, I flipped over to ESPN, and realized that Felix Hernandez had actually completed a perfect game while we were making fun of a movie about a fictional perfect game.

    Coincidence ... or something more?

    Perfect game

There's something in the water this year... That was the 3rd perfect game this season.

Strange admission... after seeing For Love Of The Game the first time I started using "engage the mechanism" as a mantra to concentrate Weird, I know.

    Perfect game

I still think of that line so in a sense it's had a lasting impression on me...

But as for working - not really. I never really have had a hard time shutting out the rest of the world when needed/wanted. Queuing myself with 'engage the mechanism' wasn't any better than other stuff I did.
