    Training for Fire Dept.

Hello, my name is Joe, I'm 19 years old and I've been working out and running for about 2 years now.

But on Novemeber 20, 2009 I was on delivery for Papa John's Pizza when another car merged into my lane, pushing me off of the road at 45 mph. My car did 2 flips and wrapped around 3 trees. I was pinned inside for 45 mins and the dashboard crumpled on top of my legs.

I couldn't walk (or move much) for a good 2 weeks. I couldn't do much activity at all for a few months. I lost alot of muscle mass and my legs havent been the same since. I AM EXTREMELY LUCKY that I survived and broke NO bones. But because of this crash I lost my apartment due to having no job, and I'm trying to get back on the right track.

I want to become, no, I will become a firefighter. I know this is what was meant for me. It took a team of firefighters to save me and now it is my turn to help others. But to do so I need to be in top physical condition, so it is back to the drawing board.

I've been hitting the gym on and off again slowly gaining my leg strength back so I can weight lift more and run longer. Before my crash I could run 6 miles without stopping, and now I can run 2.5 miles with no break. This is me currently.

I currently weigh 150 lbs. Going for 175-180 lbs of lean muscle.

I am going to be training VERY hard now. So this is pretty much my story & goal. I would like to make many friends on this forum and hopefully get alot of advise from everybody!

    I'm excited

    Joe,

Welcome! Lots of friends here....and glad that you were not hurt seriously in that wreck. Looks terrible.

Good luck with the training, Joe! I'm sure you'll make one fine firefighter one day.
