Hi Jane. Congratulations on your conviction. I am sure that there is no doubt in anyone's mind that you won't meet your goals. I am not there yet (in that I still need to gain, ummm, a LOT of strength plus I still want to FA ... a little) otherwise I would join you. I am curious though: what does low-cal mean for you, given you still plan to lift hard 4x a week? Also, did you go low-cal when you first did Stage 7 of NROL4W or did you stick with the by-the-book formula?

I really look forward to following your results. Thanks so much for sharing!!

I will be doing about 1350 on non-carb load days and about 1750 on carb-load days. Not strictly counting calories, but that's about what it comes out to on most days.

When I did NROL4W back in 2008, I did low-carb the whole time and didn't count a single calorie. I followed the TNT diet. Lost over 30 lbs over the life of the NROL4W program.

Holy guacamole. That's a lot of weight in, say, 6 months (probably less for you).
And 1350 on non-carb days? That certainly tosses my tried-and-true out the window. Ok. So more brocolli and more sucralose in my future. Guess I better have a look at TNT. (Chapter's/Indigo is SOOOO loving me these days!)
Thank you for your help! And good luck with NMFA!

Yeah, it was about 5 months, I'd say. I only "cheated" once a month and it wasn't even a cheat now that I look back on it. I averaged about 1.5 lbs a week. I only weighed myself once a month.

TNT worked well for me, but it's hard for others. No carbs. No bread, no fruit, no sugar, no grains, no starch. Now, I do more of a carb cycling and have been for some time. These few weeks of NMFA I'm just kicking it up a notch, since I've been concentrating on gaining LBM for so long now. Time to get refocused into fat loss for a little bit.

I had the pleasure of attending an Apolo Ohno book signing yesterday. It was very exciting to meet him; probably the only time I will ever get to meet an Olympian! He signed my book and I got some great pictures, too!

I immediately dived into his book last night and I am about 1/3 of the way done and I think I can safely say I recommend it! It's called "Zero Regrets - Be Greater Than Yesterday". Very motivational! I know I'm going to have a great workout tonight just having some of his thoughts rumbling around in my mind.

If you are a friend on FB, I've got pics posted.

Back later tonight with my workout!

Nice PR's. Especially considering the calorie restrictions. You could probably market your itunes playlist.

OH YA! So that idea SO has to happen. We need a Tunes that Rock thread. (Sorry missJane, if that was your invention, the cat's out of the bag. I'll still give you your 10 bucks though! )

I would start the thread right now, but I have to go make supper, do baths, read stories, etc. I'll check in later.

    Thanks so much No Mouse!

Yes. Of course. That thought did occur to me about 10 minutes after my post. Ooops. Thanks for being so nice about it

I wish I could still listen to music in my earphones. Stupid tinnitus.

Nice that you got to meet Apolo Ohno! I'll have to check out his book, too - I'm still needing help in the motivation area.

Gosh, I have to have my music! I feel bad for you that you can't listen!

I finished Apolo's book and found it highly motivating! Of course, I've always been a fan of his, too, so I was very interested in his story, as well.

(and I must admit, I think my itunes playlists are pretty good)

I saw Apolo interviewed on the Today show maybe 2 weeks ago, and he struck me as a down-to-earth, but extremely dedicated and driven, person, and I can relate to him in some ways.

BTW, your challenge is working magic on my eating habits. I've passed on countless "treats" in the last few days; today's test was donuts at this morning's board meeting. What's really killing me is the fact that there is a bunch of salty potato chips in the pantry, but I refuse to cave into them. I'm imagining that I'm in a standoff with the chips, and I don't want them to win, LOL.

Good for you! Glad the challenge is working. You know, sometimes you just gotta do it. I don't like to fuck around (hence, the challenge title!)....I'd rather just do it.

It's rather ironic that I read Apolo's book right after I got my focus back on because he talks about it a lot. He talked about being 100% "on" when he was cutting weight. He passed on every treat. And he talks about his love for pizza and candy. So, he put a big bowl of candy bars in his room and made himself look at the candy and pass it by each day. I swear after reading his book I really did feel even more focused and determined to accomplish WHATEVER I put my mind to. And, I really think all those thoughts running around in my head really are what determined such a good workout on Monday. That whole mental game. Hoping for the same tonight.

Pass me some of that focus & dedication please!
In both the workouts and eats.. I've been back on track re the latter after signing up for a new gym, but really would love to bust past my 'marriage' wt (same as age 15 or so) and/or attain a lower bf% before the mid/late winter blues come in Jan-Feb.
Passing up goodies in Nov & Dec isn't really hard actually!

Super workout! Went in again just really focused mentally. Musically fueled by the Crash Kings.

Hard to track PR's, but with nearly every exercise tonight, where I did 12 reps (with the 2+2+2) it was the first time with 12 reps at that weight in a workout. So, I really pushed this workout.
