Today has been really busy. I had to spend a lot of the day at a client's sorting out messes to his data file and it was pretty tiring. I cannot believe how many errors there were, but I did sort it out ... took me 5 hours.

My workout was a quick 25 minutes of intervals on the treadmill, then the damn thing died on me ... overheated again. I really thought it was fixed, but apparently not. So now I have to deal with getting it looked at and hopefully fixed. I'm really hoping the weather is good tomorrow so that I can get a run in outdoors, but we'll just have to see.

That's about it, except I've a list yay long of stuff to buy, clean & just do in general for this weekend. It looks daunting but it will get done.

And that is all for today. Have a good night everyone.

    Thanks Tracey ...

Today's workout was another quick one as I'm bogged with work and details. Anyway after my usual stretching session, I took a chance on the treadmill and low & behold was able to walk 30 minutes on it and it didn't die. Then I did a quick 15 minutes of intervals on the rowing machine. And that is all.

I've got my nose to the grindstone trying to get all my work done for the week by the end of today because I don't want to start work on Monday already behind the 8 ball.

I seriously go on the easy for Easter dinner. This year, our family is not traveling back "home," so we are celebrating with some other families that we know. We're all chipping in on a storebought ham and bringing sides to share. I'm bringing

    -ginger-almond sweet potatoes
    -deviled eggs
    -dessert

mmmm the ginger-almond sweet potatoes sound delicious ... would you share the recipe??? We love sweet potatoes, ginger & almonds, so I'm sure we'd love those.

And devilled eggs are divine ... they are a go to for me whenever I need to come up with some sort of side or appetizer. Everyone seems to love them.

    Happy Easter Tasha!!

    Drive by hi!

Instead of the marshmallows, you can put a mixture of chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon on top of the sweet potatoes.

mmm that sounds really good ... I'll have to try that sometime when I don't have guests just in case I mess it up.

Thanks!! Right now I'm in prep mode. I've so far made the dressing and it is baking, then the turkey will be going in the oven. We'll carve it today, then reheat tomorrow. My sis-in-law did that at Christmas and the turkey was perfect. The beans & carrots are cleaned and in the fridge waiting to be cooked tomorrow. Next up is preparing the sweet potatoes. Once the turkey is cooked, I'll also make the gravy then we can reheat tomorrow. We'll leave the mashed for tomorrow, along with the ham and pineapple. We're actually in pretty good shape.

This mornings workout was 60 minutes on the persnickety treadmill which seemed to be fine. Of the 60, I ran 40 and walked 20. And that is all I have.

    Have a great day everyone!

Thank gawd, it's over ... 22 for dinner last night and 14 back for the Easter Egg hunt this morning making a total of 18 at the house today. Hubby's brother & his wife (D & S) stayed over last night so the four of us had a lovely breakfast together and then they all arrived. All the nieces and nephews, their spouses and children for a morning of hunting easter eggs. It was chaos, but fun. I am EXHAUSTED!!

Workout yesterday ... 30 minutes running ... workout today nothing other than chasing and carrying 7 kids around at different times, different speeds and in different holds this morning.

Tomorrow, life gets back to our regular routine. I can't wait.

Glad Easter was so fun! But, it does sound exhausting!

We had a very nice and quiet Easter and it turned out really nice for everyone! AND, my sister's dessert was a hit (she was so excited!).

Oh we had a good day and yes, there was time to enjoy. My neices, both in their early 30's helped a lot. They organized the table seatings and made sure the kids had their plates. My nephews (20 & 30 yrs old) put all the side dishes, etc on the table while hubby carved the ham.

Then my neices hubby's cleared the table, my 20 yr old nephew scraped the plates and I put them in the dishwasher. My 30 yr old nephew washed all the glassware and my bro-in-laws dried. My hubby put the dishes away. We had a great assembly line.

Jane so thrilled that your Easter went well. So, what was the dessert that your sister made???

Thanks Espi!! And yup, there weren't any glitches. I was so surprised considering there were 7 kids, all under 8 years old.

Today's workout 25 minutes intervals on the rowing machine & 30 minutes walk/running on the treadmill. These were, of course, after my stretching session & boy did I need that.

Yay is right. I don't know how my sis-in-law does this all the time. Mind you there are 5 less for her regular family dinners but still 17 ... unthinkable.

Today's workout -- stretches (which include pushups, lunges & squats), then circuit ...

    10 minutes weights
    5 minutes jumping jacks/planks/crunches/wall sits
    10 minutes rowing machine

    all times 3 ...

I still haven't written a training plan but I figured since I'm not kickboxing any more I'd better get back into doing more than running and/or walking on the treadmill.

Things have been busy again so I've not been posting but have been checking training logs here and there. I've finally got a bit of a training plan together ONLY because I've signed up for some races:

June 9th - Montreal, Quebec - 42 km inline marathon
July 1st - Cambridge, Ontario - 42 km inline marathon
July 8th - Penetanguishene, Ontario - Sprint Duathlon (5km run, 20km bike, 2.5 km run)
July 29th - Cobourg, Ontario - Sprint Duathlon (5km run, 20km bike, 2.5 km run)

And that is all I've signed up for now. We are seriously considering Ireland in September which means we'll need to do a lot of cycling and perhaps go on a small cycling trip. This would more than likely happen in August. We shall see. In the meantime, I've got to nail down a training program that'll have me ready to speedskate early in the season, then run & cycle later on. Like I said I've got a bit put together but I'm not there yet. I'll have it worked out soon. In the meantime ... I'm happy and looking forward to the season!!

My workouts the past couple days:

Wednesday morning -- after my stretches, 30 minutes running on the treadmill followed by 15 minutes on the rowing machine

Wednesday evening -- 45 minutes walking on the treadmill just to burn some calories

This morning (Thursday) -- circuit again ... 10 minutes weights, then 5 minutes of calisthenics, then 10 minutes running on the treadmill ... all times 3.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be nice so I am hoping to skate. We shall see!

Hi Jewel. It looks like you have a very active start to your summer doing what you love to do. Cool!

yay for having a race calendar planned! i always get so excited and motivated when there is AN EVENT on the horizon. they seem to be spaced really well too, so you'll have some time for recovery between and still be able to gear up for the next.

i've never done duathlon, but given my swimming skills i'm more likely to do that than a triathlon again. have you done one before?

I think those are the only races I'm going to do sign up for at this point because of the uncertainty of Ireland. We'll know for sure in the next month whether we're going or not, then I'll take another look at races and go from there.

I'm not concerned about the inline races because I know how to train for them but the duathlons have me a little worried because I'm not sure how to train for them & inline. It'll be a learning experience for sure.

I decided to forgo the triathlon dream this year because of my swimming. I've not done laps in about 9 months so my swimming is quite weak and I just can't see having the time to train for swimming as well. Luckily cycling is a good cross-training tool for skating and vice versa. Time will tell

And now, the temps have hit 50F so I'm off to skate.
