    My workout log.

We decided last week, rather late in the game, that we would drive down to visit mom and dad this weekend. I think its worked out great, the weather is just as hot in Ohio and its not as hot as it could be in Alabama, plus we can see dad for fathers day.

Unfortunately, its supposed to be hotter when we get home tomorrow or Tuesday. Yuck.

We have a boston butt smoking in the green egg that hopefully will be delicious later tonight. Friday we had chiavetta's, and yesterday we had salmon for lunch and fried catfish for dinner.

    Happy Fathers day everyone.

We did have a good time, thanks! It wasn't the best timing, but you have to take those opportunities when they come, or they pass you by. You know

Mom's still having a hard time with this new roll as Grandma. I really hope she figures this out soon. My sister was there with her family a few weeks ago and mom's still miffed that they didn't join mom and dad at church. Scrap that, she's still mad about how my sister reminded mom she had to wash her hands around the week old baby. Oh well. She assured me that she had washed her hands just as much as she always does when my sister was visiting.

Funny! Our condo mates had a baby last year. The mom is an infectious diseases doctor. When the baby first came home from the hospital we couldn't hold her until we used antibacterial goo on our hands. Now she plays in Zeke's slimy water bowl without a reaction from Mom. What a difference a year makes!

I think its absolutely appropriate to be a germaphobe during the first 3-6 weeks of a kids life.

DH's cousin was working in a microbiology type lab a few summers ago, she was telling us all about bacteria and other such organisms over dinner. We had to insist that she stop.

    It was good!

I've been having a hard time with unracking the last set for the bench press. Anyway, its still more than I've ever pressed, and it continues to get better, even if it is slow slow slow.

I wasn't sure if DH was going to be able to go to the gym today. Yesterday he was helping his friend move stuff out of his house. Among asinine things like not renting the uhaul truck, just getting a trailer, and having to move some stuff to the girlfriends house and some stuff to the storage unit, .. He has a pair of stackable washer and dryers. For just himself. And one of the things that might have caused the sale to fall through was the people buying the house wanted one of the sets of washer and dryers. But they're a matched set, so DH's friend said either you buy both or you get none. If I had known... So DH got to help move all four of those stupid machines. I told DH he should have refused to move one pair just on principal. They got moved to the storage unit. I'm sure they will never be used again. I do not understand....

Dumb question: I was about 100% sure you were the one responsible for my quest to find mustard powder as I tied it to your sister's kale salad.
Lo & behold, 2 days ago, there it was... the mustard powder and of all places in the exact same spot where I was searching for my favourite fruit-infused pepper!

Since I'd thrown away the printed information on that kale salad.. searched the forum and upon finding that recipe, was quite startled to only see a reference to regular mustard. NOT mustard powder.

Was I just wrong all the time or was the recipe changed ? Or was it a different recipe that requires mustard powder? Please help me out here before I lose sleep over it

Right! Crazy stuff. Of course, I have an unmatched set. Its what happens when you only replace the one that is dying / dead

Miss Jane answered this WAY before i saw it! I'm sure you can use the mustard powder to make a salad dressing to go on the kale. But I don't happen to have keep mustard powder and I don't know if it would taste good

    531 Cycle 6
    12/12
    June 26, 2012

    warmup from NROLFA
(except the straight leg runs, side step thing, and butt kicks, see below)

    A. Squats
    50/5
    62.5/5
    75/3
    95/5
    105/3
    120/1

    And that was it.

So, first off, I forgot my notebook. So thank goodness I had my phone and could look up what I had done last time (and more importantly the 555 week as all but the last weight gets repeated). So I could make a good guess as to what my last weight was. It was either 117.5 (which it was supposed to be) or 120. Oops. Damn, that was heavy.

Second, DH had to go to the other side of the world to help move this super expensive mattress into the back of a pickup truck so it could be driven to his aunts house. And the guy who originally agreed to do this tomorrow in the afternoon then changed his mind to say it needed to be done today. But ... the person with the key couldn't get there till 8pm. So we didn't get to the gym till almost 10pm. One of the few times I'm glad our gym is open till 11.

Oh well. Tomorrow I'm going to lunch with my girlfriend. We're going to Bombay Satir (I think thats it), in Canton. Its one of her favorites, so I'm hoping its delicious. This is hard because I live so close to the Safron Patch which is positively a-may-zingly delicious. But.. I suppose branching out and trying new things is good.

    My workout log.

Yesterday, at 9am in the morning, I took off and started driving to Michigan. Well, the Ann Arbor area. A few things of note.

    1. the sign has changed yet again. "Pure Michigan" is what it says. I wonder if you add up all the time in the past 15 years (I think thats when they changed it from 'Yes Michigan!" that was spent on slogans and compare that to the time spent on say, more important things...

    2. You can once again travel through Maumee to get from the turnpike to 23. The last time I went in that direction they were completely redoing one of the ramps and the detour was very disconcerting. My family has traveled back and forth from the two states many times and we ALWAYS went through Maumee.

    3. OMG it was hot!

    4. It seems to me that people drive slower. Not sure, but it seems like it.

    5. You can't see the cabella's from the south. But I still stopped because DH is wearing a smaller tshirt now and he needs fish shirts that fit. The more expensive one was even on sale

I got to spend the day with my best friend from my childhood and her family (parents, brother, 2 kids, grandma). Her mom has this great garden and cooks really well. She made this fabulous tabouli salad for lunch that we put over these greens she had picked from the garden. Then for dinner she made a chicken salad that again, we put over greens from the garden. Not sure what kind of greens they were, they were a bit bitter, and came from a "mixed greens" pack. She won't' do that again We spent the day talking, and we did our usual walk to the park across the busy street with the stroller. It was really great to see them, and I'm already planning my next visit north. I think I miss Michigan more than I thought.

We're going to go see fireworks tonight. There are two shows that we normally see every year, but they're happening on the same day this year. So we'll see the one thats close by. Then Tuesday is Independence's fireworks. And Wednesday, we have to discuss. But there's a concert at lock 3 which would be fun to go to. We went last year but were promised 1812 overture and they didn't play it. FIL is hoping we go to his house for a cookout.
