Good work on doing an elevated side plank! Those are tough.
Thanks LilJ - dieting is hard period, and you are right it is a battle every day fighting those food demons calling my name! I still can't believe I did an elevated side plank!

Well I did not workout yesterday because I was too tired, I didn't sleep well Sunday night, only had about 4 1/2 hours of sleep, no reason, just couldn't sleep (maybe I was HUNGRY LOL).

Food intake was not that great, my calories were a little higher than I wanted and my choices were not great. I looked at my food analysis over on Calorie Count and I noticed that my calories have slowly gotten a little higher over the course of a week or so, not terribly higher but not where I would like it to be. That is one of the things I like about Calorie Count is that it gives you a graph over the course of a few weeks so you can see what you have been doing calorie & expenditure wise. Makes me want to pull the reins in a bit. I also don't think I am moving enough, I say that every day and I have good intentions but yet I still sit on my rear, need to move more!

    Breakfast
    Scrambled eggs
    coffee with coffeemate and splenda

    Lunch (buffet)
turkey with small amount of gravy
    1 meatball
    broccoli
small salad with lettuce, tomato & avocado & low cal ranch
    collard greens

    Dinner
    baked chicken breast
    shells & cheese
    broccoli

    Snack
    strawberries with splenda

    Total for yesterday 1650

I was not too happy with myself yesterday. For some reason I felt like I did terrible because I splurged a little. My overall total was not really bad but I still felt guilty for my little overindulgence. One of the girls at the office brought in some chocolate covered strawberries for the "lunch girl crew" and of course I didn't want to be rude so I ate one. Then in the afternoon one of our vendors delivered goody baskets (luckily it had good stuff and some semi healthy stuff in it) so I took a fiber one brownie and ate it. Those two little tiny add ons added 120 extra calories into my day, does not sound like a lot in the grand scheme of things but I sure did feel like I cheated in some way. Guilt is a terrible thing but it may be the one thing that keeps me on a semi right track, especially when I feel like I have not been doing as good as I should lately with my food choices and not moving more.

    Workout

    NRLFabs
    Dynamic warmup
    foam rolled

    AShold 2X30 sec
Elevated plank - shaved 15 my time
Side planks - shaved 10 minutes off of time
    DBSLR deadlift 3X12X30
    DBAS press 3X12X20
    Overhead squat 3X12X55
    CKpulldown (total gym L4) 3X12

I guess I have been going (a little bit) by what ninja said early in the challenge. If you have a cheat keep it to 150 calories or something like that...I will have to check it out and get back to you

2/15/12 Log - Well I dreaded it and did not want to do it, I was trying to come up with every excuse in the book to not do any cardio but I finally got off of my duff and went down to the dungeon and did 30 agonizing minutes of cardio. I know I need it really bad, I feel so much better after doing cardio/HIIT and since I barely move during the day, I need to move more! So yeah, I did it. It is strange but since I started lifting I dread any type of cardio/Hiit, I will take lifting over cardio/hiit any day even though lifting takes me longer, go figure. But doctor's orders for the ticker, plus I need some stamina.

I feel your pain doing cardio! Unless I can get outside and it's nice (or decent at least) I loath it! Going down in the dungeon I need to have my favorite shows dvr'ed cause otherwise all I do is watch the washer and dryer and think about how much laundry I need to do Very depressing! LOL

Also What the heck is oyster sauce??

Yeah the only thing that keeps me going on the elliptical or treadmill in the dungeon is the tv on closed caption and my ipod blaring tunes. I read the closed caption on the tv which keeps my mind off of the elliptical/treadmill timer and the ipod music keeps me pumped up - I could not do the elliptical or treadmill without the TV and ipod LOL.

Oyster sauce is used in a lot of Chinese food. They put it on stir fried vegetables that I get at the buffet. It is really good. I didn't have a clue what the buffet that I frequent at lunchtime stir fries their greenbeans & carrots in so I asked the cook and he told me that they stir fry them with oyster sauce so I looked it up on calorie count. I don't like oysters at all and if I knew it was stir fried with "oyster sauce" prior to me trying them, I would of never tired them. But the oyster sauce on stir fried vegetables is the bomb!

The cardio is a struggle for me too unless it's outdoors. To help break it up and make it more tolerable, I've been doing the higher intensity so I don't have to go for as long- 30-60 mins on a machine would make me lose my mind these days. I've also found that if I change machines frequently it helps- earlier this week, I did jump rope intervals (10 min total time jumping), then stairmill intervals (10 intervals), then I biked.

Other times, I've done rounds of alternating KB swings and jump squats- 20 secs for each of those, 4 times through, rest, and repeat twice more. Sucks, but at least I'm done quickly.

Last night, my trainer had me do 20 seconds of medicine ball slams and 20 seconds of KB swings X 4, rest, and repeat. HOLY COW!!! I was sweating like crazy and my lungs were on fire. Got the job done quick though.

I haven't done this in awhile, but a great workout is to get on a treadmill and repeat this 4x:

2 min walking at 15% incline (or as close to that as you can handle)
    2 min jog (no incline)
1 walk at decent pace (slight incline)

I hate jogging, but jogging after that 15% incline is sweet relief.

Thanks for the tips. I do remember last year when I was going to the gym on my lunch and I had a personal trainer she had me doing this obstacle course she had set up with cones and the medicine ball, etc. It was really challenging. Wish I had more room to set up at the house to do something like that. Yeah I hate the machines too, but I figured since I spent so much money on those dang cardio machines I should try and get some use out of them. Although, my poor treadmill is on its last leg, I have had it for 20 years and the incline does not work any more and if I am not careful the tread on it slips, you should see Big Momma flying off the back of it (lol) not a pretty site. My husband just bought the elliptical for me a little over a year ago so I figured I better use instead of hanging clothes on it (lol).

Plank master for sure!! How are you liking NROL4Abs as opposed to the women's program? You seem to be moving along with the workouts and with the diet as well. Continued good luck with the challenge!

    I'm a Little Girl Trapped in a Big Girl's Body - 2012 Challenge Log

Well this is the first time since starting the challenge that I went over my personal limit of 1800 (of course I go over on cheat treat meal days) but I was over on a non-treat day and I am not happy about it but I was only over by 7 calories but like I said in early posts, I notice myself slowly creeping up calorie wise every day and I need to get a handle on it. This is of course after I have my treat meal tonight! I also had some potatoes from the buffet this morning, I have not had those since starting the challenge either. I just could not stomach eggs and meat alone this morning, I needed the old comfort of a little bit of carbs, gosh they were good. I think that I could live off of white potatoes! I had one small serving with some scrambled eggs.

I am hoping to do some cardio or a HIIT routine tontight when I get off. I normally do not workout on Friday and Friday is my typical cheat meal but considering I was over yesterday by a few calories, and I know my treat meal tonight will be bad, I think I should attempt to go home and do a little cardio to offset my badness and get rid of some of this guilt!

    Yesterday's total 1807!

I did workout yesterday, NRLFAbs 1A Workout 5

Dynamic warmup - I still get winded from the jumps and it is taxing on my feet & knees but big Momma is jumping!
    foam rolled

Plank 78 (OMG Really - Totally) LOL Big Momma held it! Second set 65sec

SPlanks (I am at work entering data and I can't remember exactly but it was 2 sets and it was like 10 seconds longer than before)

split squat front foot elevated 3X12X20lb plate held in front (finally getting the form on these down and feeling more confortable but it is a kick ass exercise - hurts so good)

reverse row - 9, 10, 12 (husband stands on squat rack to hold it down for me and and the bar is at the top of the rack)

    romanian DL- 3X12X115

Pushup - 12, 12, 12 (bar is 2 levels from bottom of squat rack)

Well hope everyone has a great Friday!

Plank Master LOL - Don't I wish . I am liking the NRLAbs, it is a nice change up from the women's program. I like having a program to follow it makes all the difference. For years I just winged it and did a lot of isolation exercises and a ton of cardio, pure ingnorance on my part. So glad someone from calorie count highly suggested the NRLFW, opened me up to a whole new world. Just wish I could get my diet more in check but hey I am a work in progress, I am any trying to learn to enjoy the journey, not dread it.

I chuckle now because my husband keeps asking me why I won't use the curl bar he purchased for himself (LOL) and we get into heated debates about it. He is still stuck in the 70's as far as workouts are concerned, you can't teach an old dog like him new tricks, he is too stubborn. I keep telling him he should read the books, especially NRLFAbs due to the fact that he has had 3 back operations - it might do him some good, but he still has the mindset from back in the old Holiday Spa days, so oh well, we can agree to disagree!

I like how the NRLFA's does the core work at the beginning and my core is starting to feel a little stronger. I had 2 girls at work tell me just in the last 2 days that they can notice that I am losing although the scale is not showing much difference but hey Big Momma will take it however she can get it - my way curvy hour glass figure is starting to slowly and I mean slowly return!

The NRLFAbs is definitely challenging for me - although it does not take much to challenge me because I was not and still am not in good shape. I thought that I was in okay shape to begin with from years of on again, off again workouts but this has really shown me that I am in no shape at all and it has really shown me that my core needs tons of work, although I knew that from my spare tires around my waist.

You are moving along really good in your workouts logs too! I wish you continued success, one of these days you might even see Big Momma's 20 pack abs (LOL) - I can dream!

    I'm a Little Girl Trapped in a Big Girl's Body - 2012 Challenge Log

Well took a 3 day break from logging, just been lazy, plain and simple.
Friday was my weekly treat meal and of course my calories were off the charts. Saturday I was a little over my personal limit and Sunday I was right at my limit! I can thank those lovely Cadbury Chocolate Coated Carmel Eggs (which thank God they only come out around Easter). I don't know what possessed me to purchase a small pack of the little ones (although I am glad that I didn't buy the regular size in a 3 pack). So I finished off the one pack in 2 days (3 servings), little bang for the buck - I was somewhat disappointed!

No workout Friday or Saturday although I did a ton of walking on Saturday and on Sunday I did NRLFA's workout 1A5. I was only able to do two sets, just did not have the strength for some reason (DUH BAD FOOD INTAKE)! Anyway one good thing - I was able to hold my elevated side planks for 45 SECONDS (WOW), can't believe Big Momma held it! Also was able to complete elevated front plank much faster!

    So here are my numbers:
    2/17/12 2942 (Treat meal day)
    2/18/12 1803
    2/19/12 1800

Have to pull head out of rear and get back on track today! No workout today as I am cleaning house from top to bottom, nice way to spend a day off of work but I am sure feet and legs will be killing me when I go to sit down 9:00 p.m. tonight!

My husband is stuck too! He bench pressess primarily and all the other macho guy stuff- no legs though, no core, no HIIT whatsoever. I tried suggesting he look through my workout books, but no way! He said he did tell a friend that when an upcoming bench contest is over, they should try some workouts more like mine (no HIIT, but less rest times between lifts, etc.). I swear, the men at my gym spend more time talking and posing than they do working out!

Well pulled the reins in today somewhat on my food intake. I have been cleaning the house on and off all day (UGH), baseboards, walls, etc.... I hate cleaning but boy the house needed it. I am sure I burned some calories today. I am not finished yet. I have to take husband for procedure tomorrow so I am off of work, so when I get back I can finish cleaning and hopefully, no not hopefully, I Will get in a lifting workout!

    Breakfast
2 eggs and 2 oz of imported ham
    coffee with coffeemate and splenda

    Lunch
    Vegetable minestrone soup
caramelized chicken patty wrapped up in lettuce with slice of 2% cheese & mustard

    Dinner
caramelized chicken patty wrapped up in lettuce with slice of 2% cheese
2 oz of REAL sharp cheddar cheese (YUM)
I tried this oriental noodle bowl that my sister Veeminator gave to me over the weekend as it was only 250 calories but I did not like it at all (YUCK) so I threw most of it away
    Strawberries

    Snack
    ?????

So far today I have had 1255 calories so I am sure once I get off of my feet I may have another bowl of strawberries so I will just say 1355 calories for today.
