Dougz's Journal v 3.0
Wow.. My login still works!
Seems like forever since I was here.. Wow! Was I ever anal back then..
Quick recap: I'm now 42, married still, my 2 boys are 16 and 14. I'm 6'2" still, 205 lbs.
I haven't been to the gym in about 2 years, and it shows.. Weak as a kitten, skinny-fat.
I've gotten way more into alpine hiking (longest was 105km in 6 days), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing since buggering my shoulders. Diet-wise I've just been eating what I want, when I want, and doing Lyle M's RFL diet whenever I hit about the 215 lbs mark, repeat.. Got very sick of weighing and logging day in, day out!
Now I'd like to get back to the gym and start counting calories again (RFL suuuuuuuuuuuucks), but am definitely not going to be as OCD as I was.. Will not kid myself and try to bulk, just want to maintain and reap the strength and endurance benefits of weight training without hopefully injuring myself..
Will probably in fact try physio and get my shoulders full ROM again before I try to lift heavy again.. Still have lower back issues as well.
I SAY heavy, but I blush for how weak I am compared to my last gym numbers! Lets just say I benched just the bar for 3x10 last gym session, and already my shoulders were complaining, squats were a joke, etc, etc.. But I'm just going to start from scratch. Will stick with full-body starting strength workouts, and will read New Rules of Lifting For Life.
I'm doing RFL right now for 6 weeks, I am scheduled to come off it right at Christmas, so that will be a challenging return to maintenance!
And I still do intermittent fasting while on RFL.. Helps with the food craving.. I just stop eating around 9pm, then nothing but coffee and ephedrine till about 2pm the next day. When I start counting calories will probably lay off IF, I like my morning cappuccinos too much. Diet plan when I return to maintenance will be L Peele -style counting every little thing, paying for over-indulgences with fasting the next day.. Should probably re-read her E book, though.
Anyhoo, will keep checking this site for tips, recipes, etc, see if any of the old gang is still around.. And will log my workouts, weight of course.

Actually since the site crashed during the Fitness Summit the year before last (I think) people seem to have left for other venues. I still keep tabs now and again for old time's sake.
Yes, I could see after I posted how quiet it is here, now..
Where did the majority settle, in this age of Reddit, etc?
Nowhere really - everyone went their separate ways mostly. I've tried to get some back but haven't been successful yet.
